Application for Reception Class in September 2024


Children are admitted to the Reception class in the school year in which they have their fifth birthday. 


Children born from 1 September 2019 to 31 August 2020 will be eligible to start in the Reception class in September 2024. 


The published admission number for St Paul's (Slade Green) C of E Primary School is 60 therefore the Governing Body will offer up to 60 pupils a place in our Reception class in the academic year 2024/25.


Applications for admission are welcomed from all parents, however, parents must note that evidence is needed for some admission criteria should the school receive more than 60 applications.  Children with an EHC plan are given priority before the criteria are applied.

Application Procedures and Timetable:


The deadline for applications for a place in Reception Class in September 2024 is on 15th January 2024.  Late applications can be made but will only be processed once offers have been made to the 'on-time' applicants. 


Applications should be made online by completing the Common Application Form (CAF) from your home Local Authority.  A link to Bexley's 'eAdmissions' can be found below:

In addition to the CAF, parents should complete a Supplementary Information Form - available via the link at the bottom of this page or from the school office. 


Supplementary Information forms must be completed and returned to the school office not later than 15th January 2024 along with a copy of your child's birth certificate and proof of your home address.  If parents do not complete and return the Supplementary Information form to the school by 15th January 2024, the application will be considered under oversubscription criterion 3 (if they have siblings in the school) or 4 (if they do not have siblings in the school).  


Letters offering places for children to start at the school in September 2024 will be posted online or sent by Bexley Council on 16th April 2024.  Late applications will be dealt with separately after offers have been made to the 'on time' applications.

Deadline for accepting or declining the offer of a place made on 16 April 2024.

15 May 2024:

Deadline for lodging Appeals against a decision not to offer a place at St Paul's (Slade Green) C of E Primary School – see timetable below.



Appeals Timetable:

June – July 2024:

Appeals will be heard up to 40 school days after the deadline.


Applicants will receive at least 10 days notice of their appeal hearing.


Decision letters will be sent within 5 school days of the hearing wherever possible.

Late applicants:

Appeals will be heard within 40 school days of the deadline for lodging appeals – where possible, or within 30 school days of the appeal being lodged.

In-Year Appeals

Will be heard within 30 school days of the appeal being lodged.


In-Year Admissions


If your child was born between 1 September 2018 and 31 August 2019 and they have not yet started school, please be aware that they will reach compulsory school age from the first day of the school term following their 5th birthday.
