Programmes of Study

Programmes of Study

Listed below is a brief overview of some of the interventions and additional programmes, which we use, when appropriate, to support learners.

Neli

The NELI programme is a programme for 4-5 year olds. It helps school to  identify early language difficulties and is proven to improve children's language skills and behaviour in school. Children are assessed and then take part in small group sessions with a trained adult. The small group sessions develop children’s vocabulary, listening and narrative skills. They also include activities to develop phonological awareness and early letter-sound knowledge as foundations for learning to read.

Speech and Language programmes

The school delivers Individualised programmes written by a Speech and Language Therapist either on a 1:1 basis or in a group. We also generalise these plans throughout the school day. These programmes can include speech sound production, language development and social skills, depending on the child’s needs.   We also have a SALSA (speech and language support assistant) who delivers specialist support one day per week for childre and a SALT (Speech and Language Therapist) who assesses new referrals and delivers specialist support.

JumpAhead

The JumpAhead programme has been developed by Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists and works to develop co-ordination, fine and gross motor skills.

Sensory circuits

Sensory circuits are delivered either 1:1 or in group. A Sensory Circuit is a short plan of physical activities that enables children to achieve an optimal level of alertness. It lasts 10-15 minutes.

Lego Therapy

Lego-based therapy aims to develop social communication skills such as sharing, turn-taking, following rules, using names and problem-solving.
